About APMG

We manage projects and provide technical services on HIV to governments, international organisations, funding agencies and non-government organisations. We are focused solely on HIV programs in developing countries and provide a unique combination of technical expertise and project management skills.

Who we are

We are made up of a group of people from diverse backgrounds who have worked in the response to HIV for many years. Many of us come from the non-government sector and are members of the communities most affected by HIV. We have worked in a wide range of roles including as health workers, community workers, NGO leaders, government bureaucrats and heads of international programs. We are based in Sydney and have offices in Bangkok and Geneva.

Our approach

We strengthen the capacity of our partners by working alongside them and being attentive to their needs. We prefer to develop long-term relationships with the people we work with, so that there is time to develop trust and to really understand what they need and want.

We provide on-the-job mentoring combined with regular contact between visits. This allows us to assist in the day to day problem solving that is necessary for removal of the regular obstacles that jeopardise program work.

Our communities of interest

Our primary communities of interest are:

  • Injecting drug users
  • Sex workers
  • Gay men & other men who have sex with men
  • Prisoners and other detained people
  • People living with HIV and AIDS

We work closely with a wide range of individuals who come from these communities and with organisations that work with these communities.
