Participation of the populations most affected by HIV
APMG works with the populations most affected by HIV to ensure that they are encouraged and resourced to participate fully in the design, implementation and evaluation of the HIV prevention, treatment, care and support services that affect them.
Most-affected populations differ from place to place depending on the nature of the epidemic. Our basic principle is that we work to ensure that programs match the needs of the people most affected and that those people have a clear role in determining how the response to HIV is shaped int heir place.
Our work in this area includes:
- Providing regional technical assistance and monitoring in South and South-East Asia for the HIV Collaborative Fund and its work in PLHIV-led treatments literacy
- Providing technical support for amfAR's MSM Initiative
- Training community members in Papua New Guinea in community conversations - an approach to opening up space for a discussion of HIV in communities - booklet
